What is the Days Until New Year's Eve Calculator?
This tool tells you exactly how many days remain until New Year's Eve — December 31 — counting from any date you pick. It also shows the result in weeks and confirms the target year, so you can plan parties, countdowns, deadlines, or year-end goals with confidence.
How to use it
Select the date you want to count from (it defaults to whatever date you enter). The calculator measures the number of whole days between that date and the upcoming December 31. If the date you choose is December 31 itself, the result is 0 days. If you somehow pick a date past December 31 of that year, it automatically rolls to the next year's December 31.
The formula explained
The calculator converts both your date and December 31 into milliseconds since the epoch, subtracts them, divides by 86,400,000 (the number of milliseconds in a day), and rounds up with a ceiling function. Weeks are simply days divided by seven.

Worked example
Suppose you count from December 1, 2024. December 31, 2024 is 30 days later, so the calculator returns 30 days, about 4.29 weeks, with a target year of 2024.
