What is the Toilet Paper Calculator?
The Toilet Paper Calculator estimates how long your current stock of toilet paper will last. By combining how much you have (rolls × sheets per roll) with how fast you use it (people × uses per day × sheets per use), it tells you the number of days, the equivalent in weeks, and your weekly roll consumption. It's handy for budgeting, bulk-buying decisions, or just settling a household debate.
How to use it
Enter the number of rolls you have and how many sheets are on each roll (commonly 150–500 for standard rolls; check the package). Then enter how many people live in your home, how many bathroom visits each person makes per day, and how many sheets they use per visit. Click calculate to see how many days the supply will last.
The formula explained
The math is a simple ratio. Total sheets available equals rolls × sheets per roll. Daily consumption equals people × uses per day × sheets per use. Dividing the first by the second gives the days of supply. Dividing days by 7 gives weeks, and rolls ÷ weeks gives rolls used per week.
$$\text{Days} = \frac{\text{Rolls} \times \text{Sheets/Roll}}{\text{People} \times \text{Uses/Day} \times \text{Sheets/Use}}$$
Worked example
Suppose you have 24 rolls at 150 sheets each = 3,600 sheets. A 2-person household, 5 uses per person per day, 8 sheets per use = 80 sheets/day. So \(3{,}600 \div 80 = \mathbf{45}\) days, or about 6.4 weeks. Rolls per week = \(24 \div 6.43 \approx 3.73\) rolls.
FAQ
How many sheets are on a roll? Standard rolls range from about 150 to 1,000 sheets (mega/jumbo rolls hold more). Always check the package for an accurate count.
How many sheets do people use per visit? Estimates vary widely, but 5–10 sheets per use is a common range for the average person.
Is this exact? No — it's an estimate based on average behavior. Actual usage depends on personal habits, illness, and guests.
