What Is the TOEIC Score Calculator?
The TOEIC (Test of English for International Communication) Listening & Reading test reports two scaled scores: one for Listening and one for Reading. Each section is scaled from 5 to 495 points, and your total score is simply the sum of the two — a number between 10 and 990. This calculator adds your scaled scores instantly and tells you which proficiency band your total falls into.
How to Use It
Enter your scaled Listening score (5–495) and your scaled Reading score (5–495) exactly as they appear on your official score certificate, then read your total below. Scaled scores are reported in multiples of 5. Note that raw correct-answer counts are converted to scaled scores by ETS using equating tables, so you should enter the already-scaled values, not the number of questions you got right.
The Formula Explained
The math is straightforward addition:
$$\text{Total} = \text{Listening (5--495)} + \text{Reading (5--495)}$$
Because each section is bounded between 5 and 495, the lowest possible total is 10 and the highest is 990. The calculator clamps any out-of-range entry back into the valid 5–495 window before summing.
Worked Example
Suppose your Listening scaled score is 350 and your Reading scaled score is 320. Your total is \(350 + 320 = 670\) out of 990, which falls in the "Limited Working Proficiency" band (605–784). A combined score of 785 or higher is often used by employers as the threshold for confident professional use of English.
