What Is the Vinyl Fence Cost Calculator?

This calculator gives you a quick estimate of how much a vinyl (PVC) fence will cost in materials. By combining the linear cost of the fence panels with the cost of the posts that support them, you get a realistic total before you contact a contractor or buy supplies. It works in any currency and any region, since you supply the prices yourself.

How to Use It

Enter the total fence length in feet, the cost per foot of fencing material, the number of posts you need, and the cost per post. The calculator multiplies and adds these values to show your estimated total along with a breakdown of material cost versus post cost.

Tip: vinyl posts are usually spaced 6–8 feet apart, so a 100-foot fence typically needs around 13–17 posts including corners and ends.

The Formula Explained

The math is straightforward:

$$\text{Total Cost} = (\text{Fence Length} \times \text{Cost per Foot}) + (\text{Posts} \times \text{Cost per Post})$$

The first term covers the rails and panels that run between posts, while the second term accounts for the structural posts themselves, which are often priced separately.

Total cost combines the panel material (length times cost per foot) with the posts (count times post cost).

Worked Example

Suppose you are fencing 100 feet at $25 per foot, using 13 posts at $30 each. Material cost is $$100 \times 25 = \$2{,}500.$$ Post cost is $$13 \times 30 = \$390.$$ The total is $$\$2{,}500 + \$390 = \$2{,}890.$$

FAQ

Does this include installation labor? No. This is a materials estimate. Add labor separately, which can range from $15–$40 per foot depending on your area.

How many posts do I need? Divide your fence length by your post spacing (commonly 6–8 ft) and add one for the final post, plus extra for corners and gates.

Can I use it for other fence types? Yes. Although designed for vinyl, the formula works for wood, aluminum, or composite fencing as long as you enter the matching prices.
