What is the ACFT Total Score Calculator?

This tool is for the United States Army Combat Fitness Test (ACFT). It adds up the points you earned on the six ACFT events to produce your total score out of 600. Each event is scored on a 0–100 scale, and a Soldier must earn at least 60 points on every event to pass. This calculator uses the standard 600-point scoring model; consult the current Army scoring scales (DA Form 705) to convert raw performance into event points.

The six ACFT events

The six events are the 3-Repetition Maximum Deadlift (MDL), Standing Power Throw (SPT), Hand-Release Push-Up (HRP), Sprint-Drag-Carry (SDC), Plank (PLK), and the 2-Mile Run (2MR). Enter the point value (0–100) you scored for each from your scoring tables.

How to use it

Look up each event's point value on the official ACFT scoring standards, then type those six numbers into the fields. The calculator instantly sums them, shows your average per event, and flags whether you met the 60-point minimum on every event.

The formula explained

The math is simple addition: $$\text{Total} = \text{MDL} + \text{SPT} + \text{HRP} + \text{SDC} + \text{PLK} + \text{2MR}$$ Because each event maxes at 100 points, the theoretical maximum total is 600. The calculator clamps any entry outside 0–100 to keep results valid.

Worked example

Suppose a Soldier scores 80, 75, 90, 70, 85, and 78. The total is $$80 + 75 + 90 + 70 + 85 + 78 = \mathbf{478}$$ an average of about 79.7 per event. Since every event is 60 or above, the status reads PASS.

Understanding Your ACFT Total Score

The Army Combat Fitness Test (ACFT) is scored across six events, each worth a maximum of 100 points. Your total score is simply the sum of all six event scores, giving a result out of a possible 600 points. The total is a quick measure of overall fitness, but on the ACFT it is not the only thing that matters — how you earn those points is just as important as the sum.

To pass the ACFT, a Soldier must score a minimum of 60 points in every single event. This per-event floor is the most important rule to understand: you can fail the entire test even with a high total. For example, a Soldier who scores 95 on five events but only 55 on the run has a strong total of 530 — yet still fails, because that single sub-60 event is an automatic failure regardless of the overall number.

The minimum passing total is 360 points, which corresponds to earning exactly the 60-point floor on all six events (\(60 \times 6 = 360\)). Scores meaningfully above 360 indicate progressively stronger, more balanced fitness. While the Army does not publish a single universal "category" chart that applies to every situation, a useful way to read your total is:

  • Below 360 (or any event under 60): Failing standard — does not meet the minimum.
  • 360–479: Passing, but with room to improve; some events likely near the floor.
  • 480–539: Solid, well-rounded performance across all events.
  • 540–600: Highly competitive, often relevant for boards, schools, and selection where physical fitness is weighted.

Because the test rewards balance, a well-rounded Soldier scoring in the 80s across all six events will both pass comfortably and present a stronger record than one who maxes a few events while skating the floor on others. Always confirm current point requirements against the latest official Army ACFT standards and your unit's guidance, as scoring policy can be updated.

ACFT Event Scoring Reference

The ACFT consists of six events, each scored from a minimum passing value of 60 points up to a maximum of 100 points. The table below lists each event with its standard abbreviation and the per-event and total score thresholds.

Abbr. Event (Full Name) Minimum to Pass Maximum
MDL 3-Repetition Maximum Deadlift 60 100
SPT Standing Power Throw 60 100
HRP Hand-Release Push-Up (Arm Extension) 60 100
SDC Sprint-Drag-Carry 60 100
PLK Plank 60 100
2MR Two-Mile Run 60 100
Total (all six events) 360 (pass) 600

Each event must independently reach at least 60 points; failing to do so is an automatic test failure even if the six scores still sum to 360 or more. The maximum possible total is reached only by scoring 100 on every event: 600. When estimating your run score, you can work out your required pace with a 2-mile run pace calculator to target a specific point value.

FAQ

What is the minimum passing score? You need at least 60 points on each of the six events; a high total alone does not pass if any single event falls below 60.

What is the maximum score? 600 points — 100 on each of the six events.

Does this calculate event points from raw reps or times? No. Enter the converted point values from the official ACFT scoring scales; this tool sums those points.
