What is the House Cleaning Cost Calculator?
This tool gives you a fast, customizable estimate of what a house cleaning will cost. Cleaning companies price work in different ways — some charge by square footage, some by the hour, and some by the number of bedrooms and bathrooms. This calculator supports all three methods and lets you add an optional flat base fee (often charged as a minimum trip or supply charge).
How to use it
Pick a pricing method. For By area, enter your home's cleanable square footage and the rate per square foot (typical residential rates run $0.05–$0.20/sq ft). For By hours, enter the estimated hours and the hourly rate. For By rooms, enter the count and per-room price of bedrooms and bathrooms. Optionally add a base fee, then read the total per visit.
The formula explained
The total is always a base fee plus a variable amount that depends on the method:
Area: $$\text{cost} = \text{base} + \text{area} \times \text{rate\_per\_sqft}$$
Hourly: $$\text{cost} = \text{base} + \text{hours} \times \text{hourly\_rate}$$
Rooms: $$\text{cost} = \text{base} + \text{bedrooms} \times \text{bedroom\_rate} + \text{bathrooms} \times \text{bathroom\_rate}$$
Worked example
A 1,500 sq ft home at $0.10/sq ft with no base fee: $$1{,}500 \times 0.10 = \$150 \text{ per visit}$$ The same home priced by rooms with a $30 base fee, 3 bedrooms at $25 and 2 bathrooms at $20: $$30 + (3 \times 25) + (2 \times 20) = 30 + 75 + 40 = \$145$$
FAQ
Is this an exact quote? No — it's an estimate. Actual prices vary by region, home condition, and frequency (weekly visits usually cost less per visit than one-time deep cleans).
What rate should I use per square foot? A common range is $0.05–$0.20/sq ft for standard cleaning; deep cleans and move-out cleans cost more.
Should I tip? Tips are appreciated but not required; this calculator does not include tips or sales tax.
