What is the Weight Converter?
This tool converts a weight value between three common units: kilograms (kg), pounds (lb) and stone (st). Kilograms are the metric standard used in most of the world, while pounds and stone are imperial units still widely used in the United States and the United Kingdom. The converter is universal and works for any value.
How to use it
Enter the weight value, choose the unit you are converting from (kg, lb or stone), and the calculator instantly shows the equivalent in all three units. The main result is shown in kilograms, with pounds and stone listed below.
The formula explained
The conversions are based on the exact factor that 1 kilogram equals approximately 2.20462 pounds, and that 1 stone equals exactly 14 pounds:
$$\text{lb} = \text{kg} \times 2.20462, \quad \text{st} = \frac{\text{lb}}{14}$$lb = kg × 2.20462 and stone = lb ÷ 14. To convert pounds back to kilograms we divide by 2.20462; to convert stone to kilograms we first multiply by 14 to get pounds, then divide by 2.20462.
Worked example
Suppose you weigh 70 kg. In pounds that is $$70 \times 2.20462 = 154.32 \text{ lb}.$$ In stone that is $$154.32 \div 14 \approx 11.02 \text{ st}.$$ So \(70\text{ kg} \approx 154.32\text{ lb} \approx 11.02\text{ stone}\).
