What Is the Test Score Percentage Calculator?
This calculator turns a raw test result into a percentage score. Enter how many questions you answered correctly and the total number of questions, and it instantly tells you your percentage grade along with the number of incorrect answers. It works for any quiz, exam, homework set, or practice test.
How to Use It
Type the number of correct answers in the first box and the total questions in the second box, then read your score. The total must be at least 1. The result shows your percentage, the breakdown of correct vs. incorrect answers, and the total questions for quick reference.
The Formula Explained
The percentage is calculated by dividing correct answers by total questions and multiplying by 100:
$$\text{Percent} = \left(\frac{\text{Correct}}{\text{Total Questions}}\right) \times 100$$
For example, scoring 18 out of 20 means \(18 \div 20 = 0.9\), and \(0.9 \times 100 = 90\%\). The number of incorrect answers is simply \(\text{Total} - \text{Correct}\).
Worked Example
Suppose you got 45 questions right on a 60-question exam. Your score is $$45 \div 60 \times 100 = 75\%.$$ That means 15 questions were incorrect, giving you a solid C grade on many standard scales.
FAQ
Can I enter partial-credit scores? Yes. You can enter decimal values for correct answers (for example, 17.5) if your test awards half marks.
What letter grade does my percentage equal? It depends on your grading scale, but a common scale is A = 90–100%, B = 80–89%, C = 70–79%, D = 60–69%, and F below 60%.
Why does total questions need to be at least 1? Dividing by zero is undefined, so the calculator requires at least one question to compute a valid percentage.
