What Is a Tithe Calculator?

A tithe is a portion of your income — traditionally one tenth (10%) — given to a church, charity, or religious community. This tithe calculator lets you quickly work out how much to give based on any income amount and any percentage you choose. While 10% is the classic standard derived from the word "tithe" (meaning a tenth), you can adjust the rate to match your own giving plan, whether that's 5%, 12%, or any other figure.

How to Use It

Enter your income (this could be weekly, monthly, or annual — just be consistent). Then enter the tithe percentage; it defaults to 10%. The calculator instantly shows your tithe amount and the income you'll have remaining after giving.

The Formula

The math is simple:

$$\text{Tithe} = \text{Income} \times \frac{\text{Tithe \%}}{100}$$

The remaining income is just

$$\text{Remaining} = \text{Income} - \text{Tithe}$$

By converting the percentage to a decimal (dividing by 100), the calculator multiplies it against your income to find the exact contribution.

A tithe is a fraction of total income, with the rest remaining.

Worked Example

Suppose your monthly income is $5,000 and you tithe the standard 10%. Your tithe is

$$5{,}000 \times \frac{10}{100} = 5{,}000 \times 0.10 = \$500$$

That leaves

$$5{,}000 - 500 = \$4{,}500$$

remaining. If you instead chose to give 12%, your tithe would be \(5{,}000 \times 0.12 = \$600\).

FAQ

Should I tithe on gross or net income? This is a personal and often denominational decision. Some give on gross (pre-tax) income, others on net (take-home) pay. Enter whichever figure reflects your conviction.

Is 10% required? No. Ten percent is a traditional guideline, but many people give more or less. This tool lets you set any percentage.

Can I use this for annual giving? Yes. Enter your total annual income to see your yearly tithe, or use monthly figures for monthly planning.
