What Is the VinFast EV Range Calculator?

This tool estimates how far a VinFast electric vehicle can travel on its current charge. By combining your battery capacity, the current state of charge, and your real-world energy consumption, it produces a practical range figure in both miles and kilometers. It works for any VinFast model — VF 8, VF 9, VF 6, VF 7 and others — because you supply your own battery and efficiency numbers.

How to Use It

Enter three values: your battery's total usable capacity in kilowatt-hours (kWh), the current state of charge as a percentage (0–100%), and your average energy consumption in kWh per mile. Highway driving, cold weather, and high speeds raise consumption; gentle city driving lowers it. Click calculate to see the estimated range.

The Formula Explained

The math is simple. First, find the usable energy: \(\text{Battery (kWh)} \times \dfrac{\text{Charge (\%)}}{100}\). Then divide that energy by how much energy each mile costs: $$\text{Range (mi)} = \frac{\text{Battery (kWh)} \times \dfrac{\text{Charge (\%)}}{100}}{\text{Consumption (kWh/mi)}}$$ A lower consumption number means each kWh stretches further, so range increases.

Range depends on battery capacity, state of charge, and energy consumption.

Worked Example

Suppose a VinFast VF 8 has an 82 kWh battery, is charged to 100%, and consumes 0.28 kWh per mile. Usable energy = \(82 \times 1.0 = 82\) kWh. $$\text{Range} = \frac{82}{0.28} \approx 292.9 \text{ miles}$$ or about 471.4 km. If the same car is only at 50% charge, usable energy halves to 41 kWh and range drops to about 146.4 miles.

Higher state of charge yields proportionally greater estimated range.

FAQ

Why does my real range differ from the estimate? Temperature, speed, terrain, tire pressure, and use of heating or air conditioning all change consumption. Use your actual observed kWh/mile for the most accurate result.

How do I find my consumption? Your VinFast dashboard or app reports average energy use. Many EVs show miles per kWh — divide 1 by that figure to get kWh per mile.

Is this an official VinFast figure? No. This is an independent estimate based on your inputs and is not affiliated with or endorsed by VinFast.
