Date Calculator
A date calculator is a tool that allows you to add or subtract time units (years, months, weeks, and days) from a specific date to find a new date in the future or past. It also calculates the exact number of days between the two dates.
When to Use a Date Calculator
- Planning future events or deadlines by adding time to the current date
- Calculating expiration dates for contracts, subscriptions, or warranties
- Finding historical dates by subtracting time from a known date
How to Calculate
The date calculator works by manipulating date components:
For adding time:
New Date = Start Date + Years + Months + Weeks + Days
For subtracting time:
New Date = Start Date - Years - Months - Weeks - Days
Days between dates calculation:
Days Difference = |New Date - Start Date|
(Absolute value ensures a positive result)
When adding or subtracting dates, the calculator handles month and year boundaries automatically:
- Adding 1 month to January 31 results in the last day of February
- Weeks are converted to days (1 week = 7 days)
Examples:
Example 1: Adding Time
Start Date: May 15, 2023 (Monday)
Add: 1 year, 2 months, 3 weeks, 4 days

Days Difference: 452 days
Example 2: Subtracting Time
Start Date: December 31, 2023 (Sunday)
Subtract: 0 years, 6 months, 2 weeks, 5 days
Result: June 11, 2023 (Sunday)
Days Difference: 203 days
