What is the Days Until Valentine's Day Calculator?

This tool counts the exact number of days from any date you choose until the next Valentine's Day, which falls on February 14 every year. If February 14 has already passed in the current year, the calculator automatically rolls forward to February 14 of the following year, so you always get a positive countdown.

The calculator counts the days from your start date to the next February 14.

How to use it

Pick your start date in the date picker (it defaults to today) and submit. The result shows the number of days remaining, the target Valentine's Day year, and how many weeks that works out to. It's perfect for planning gifts, dinner reservations, travel, or a surprise proposal.

The formula explained

The math is simple date subtraction: $$\text{days} = \text{date(Feb 14 next occurrence)} - \text{start date}$$ We build a calendar date for February 14 of the start year, compare it to your start date, and if it is in the past we use February 14 of the next year instead. The millisecond difference is divided by the number of milliseconds in a day and rounded to whole days.

Timeline from start date to a heart marking Valentine's Day
Days remaining equals the span between the start date and Valentine's Day.

Worked example

Suppose your start date is January 1, 2025. February 14, 2025 is still in the future, so we subtract: from January 1 to February 14 is 31 days in January plus 14 days in February = 44 days. $$31 + 14 = 44$$ The calculator returns 44 days, target year 2025, and about 6.29 weeks.

FAQ

What happens on February 14 itself? The countdown reads 0 days — it's Valentine's Day today!

What if Valentine's Day already passed this year? The calculator automatically counts to next year's February 14 so the number stays positive.

Does it account for leap years? Yes. The calculation uses real calendar dates, so February 29 in leap years is handled correctly when it falls between your start date and February 14.
